Memories of Abiathar

Post by TomTuriano »

Dear Tom,

I spent a few seasons in YNP in the 70s, mostly as a bartender, and scrambled a lot of the peaks along the east side of the park before gravitating to the granite ranges. Abiathar was a favorite and is such a complex mountain that it's one of the few places I've been genuinely lost. A couple of times I was unable to retrace an ascent route and was so mystified it almost seemed that gullies or ridges or petrified tree bands would just appear and disappear by magic. Anyway, I'm bringing a teenage daughter down for some peak bagging this summer, and your book looked like a great update on the dusty old Bonney guides I have.
